Santa Claus is Coming...

It's time for another great challenge with Lauren and Jen over at Jingle Belles, and this week it is to feature our favorite Jolly Old Elf himself... Santa Claus! 

For my card I started with a tip from Becca Feeken at Amazing Paper Grace, where she recommended picking up some great cards at Michael's dollar spot last year... and adding embellishments.  Here I added the sentiment, ribbon, embossed oval and a digital image of Santa.  The image was colored with watercolors, but the photo doesn't do him justice... he looks a bit on the pale side (needs a bit of summer sunshine!). I've added Liquid Glass to his glasses, the holly berries, and his eyes to make them shine!  I hope you are getting a head start on taking back December, too.

Classy Lady!

Here's a gal with definite Hat-i-tude! With her big fancy hat, glamorous gown, and long gloves, she is surely out for an evening of elegance. The image is colored with water color pencils, and the indigo trim highlighted with a Sakura Glaze pen. The brim of her hat, her bracelet, and the ruffle of her gown are all accented with a Sakura Clear Glitter pen. This set of stamps, called Tea Party, is from Sparkle N Sprinkle and features several wonderful wide brim hats, as well as tea pots and cups.
The background paper is from Teresa Collins Mr. & Mrs. Collection, and the shapes are Nestabilities Labels 4. Pearls are BasicGrey, and the black satin ribbon is from Offray.

I wish you could see the shine and shimmer on this one! All of the black looks like satin, and the subtle glitter really has our classy lady dazzling!

Happy Anniversary

Today is our 36th wedding anniversary, and this House Mouse couple seemed to be just right for my card to my hubby this year. He gave me a new set of water color pencils for Christmas, and I was using them to color these sweet little mice. The paper on the top is lucious handmade paper my friend Kristi gave me, and the bottom is Wasau Pearlescent Glimmer paper (also a gift from Kristi!) I used the Love Language hearts Cuttlebug folder to emboss the bottom section, as well as my new Deco Fan Martha Stewart punches for the trim. Add a little doodling and a couple of bows, and that's it.

Me and Carrie Lou Butterfly

I truly do love this image, and the way this butterfly has so many different looks. This time I used my Copic markers for the leaves and flowers, and then colored the wings with watercolor pencils to get the soft, delicate hint of color. The flowers were cut out from another stamping, and double stacked to give the card extra dimension. The green background was embossed with the brand new Cuttlebug Persia folder, which created a perfect frame. I added tiny "skittles" like dew drops to the corner, and that was it...no sentiment or other stamping...let this be a card for any occasion. I hope you like it!

Baptism card - New Stamps!

Today I got these exciting new stamps from Papertrey Ink's new release of Heavenly Medly! I think they are just awesome, and they came at exactly the right time! We are invited to a baptism very early tomorrow morning in the Gulf of Mexico!

These new stamps have lots of very special pieces that can be arranged to suit a variety of occasions and messages, and they are especially appealing with phrases like "I Am A Child of God", "I Believe in Christ" and "We'll Bring the World His Truth". Check them out!

This card could BEEE for anything ...

... and I think I'll use it as a thank you card for the Bee Lady who is coming to camp to talk about Bees to the girls. She is a professional Bee Keeper, and has a presentation and will be bringing honey in the comb for them to eat. The card is an embossed flower, then colored with watercolor pencils. The bees are "skittles" with black sharpie stripes and hand drawn wings and antennae.

Cuttlebug Challenge Be Inspired #21

Our challenge this week was to do something in watercolor, which is one of my very favorite mediums! My challenge was to get-it-done! LOL I saw this gorgeous Holly Berry House stamp at the Cricut Swarm, and knew that I wanted to color it, but I ran around so much, that it litereally took me the three days to sit still long enough to finish it ~ (and it's not that hard to do!!!) I do love how it turned out, though. These medallion stamps can be left as is, or can be stamped multiple times, and be layered, which is really awesome...

I love to do watercoloring with pencils and a watercolor brush, or baby oil gel. I find that it gives me a soft, blended look, but with lots of control. How do you like to do your watercolors??
