Mustaches and Vellum

It's Valentine Week, and I hope you are enjoying time with loved ones in your life.
This is a CAS card that I did for my 4 year old grandson, along with about 50 mustaches
for his friends!

The mustaches have a hole in the center for sliding up over a lollipop and Mommy can use my 

word program for making tags for all of his Valentines.  

He is one very excited little fellow!  His little sister looks adorable in her 'stache, too!

I was at StampFest this past weekend, and it seems that Vellum is making a big comeback... 

as if it ever really went anywhere!  But there were lots of vendors using vellum in their projects.

♥Daily Love Letters♥

Happy Valentine's Day! 

 I hope you are feeling loved today, if not by a sweetheart, by friends, family, nature, God, and a happy heart...

I want to share my Valentine project for my hubby, (which was also my vinyl UStream class for last week) called DAILY LOVE LETTERS

This is an altered composition book designed to be used by The Babe and I

every day, for messages back and forth just between us.

 This particular book happened to have two chipboard covers stitched on, so we have a photo gallery page front and back!  This paper is from the Recollections All Seasons 180 page stack.

I stamped and put vinyl stickers throughout the book to decorate the pages, carrying the theme all the way from cover to cover.

This project works wonders with youth, too.... try sharing messages of love in written notes, because once shared on paper, they are also written on the heart.

Valentine Banner from Cricut Class

Before I start the tutorial on the Valentine banner, I wanted to share this card I created for a very special cause.  As you may remember, I had requested any cards, etc. for others for my birthday blog candy, and mentioned Madison's I Feel The Love project. 

This is the card I created for the parents of little Olivia Cappelluti.

OK .... on to our Valentine Banner Project :) 

For Valentine's Day, what is more fun than an "I Love You banner".... and what better place to hang it than on your headboard?!

This project was featured as a hands on project in my "Cricut 202, What Does This Button Do?" class on UStream.  Just click on the icon in the upper right corner of the blog, and you can see the recorded class there.  If you are in my area, and would like to take a class in person, send me an email!

Use the SET PAPER SIZE Button to let Cricut know you have an 8 .5 x 11 inch paper on the mat.  Set the AUTO FILL button to get (9) 2.5 inch hearts. 

Our next exercise was to set the QUANTITY Button for 45 1.5 inch hearts.  This 12 x 12 inch paper gave us 42 hearts, and told us that when we insert the next mat it would cut the remaining 3.

Next we cut tags using the simple method of hitting the tag key seven times (we needed eight, but had one from another cut).

We also cut eight tags using the SHADOW feature.  Then the letters I LOVE YOU, also cut in red.  (Sorry I forgot to take the individual photos, but you can see them in the finished project photo).

Ink the edges of the hearts.

Score and fold all of the 1.5 inch hearts, and take five for each fan fold layered heart.

Place glue on one side of the heart and layer another heart on top. 

They will fan out to make an accordian or honeycomb type of center.

Keep layering until you have all five stacked into a fanned out heart. (It will be attached to the project below with hot glue.)

Using a glue dot, adhere the large heart behind your long banner ribbon.  Then layer your 1.5 inch fanned out heart on top.

Use a pretty good amount of hot glue to secure the fanned out heart to the ribbon and big heart.

Add a gem below the fanned hearts, then tie the tags between the hearts to complete your project.

Have fun, and enjoy using all of the creative features of your Cricut!!

I {Heart} You!

Today is HoneyBee Showcase day at BettyBee's Buzz, and this is the card I am sharing.  It was inspired by the very talented Valita, from Australia!  She is a wizard with punches, and this uses just the heart and a one inch circle!  She has a great video for how to make this couple, and also how to make it into a full size dress!

Over at BettyBee's Buzz today you will see several great ideas on unusual ways to use hearts, as well as a terrific display of Valentine Couple cards created by the ladies at our Cricuteers in Paradise swarm over the weekend!  SUCH TALENT!!

You Gotta Have Heart!!



 

WooHoo, it's Monday, and that means it's Monday Motivational over at BettyBee's Buzz!!   Our theme for this week is "Have a Heart" and I am so pleased to bring you a different sort of tutorial.... one that was inspired by Terri Moore, of Life with Terri.  She created a beautiful flower covered heart box, and offered the SVG file on her blog.  My version is featured above, and I will take you step-by-step through how I made it over at the Bee Hive!

I have used Make The Cut, a fantastic operating system that tells my Cricut what to cut; Core'dinations Jewels Cardstock; a pretty piece of rose patterned designer paper;  a Martha border punch; the Cuttlebug with the gorgeous Meadow Lark embossing folder; some bridal trim and pearls;  and Beacon 3-in-1 Glue.   




Here is the box all put together!  And now the REAL FUN begins!!

Always and Forever

Today is New Release day at Digital Delights by LoubyLoo, and it is my privilege to be able to share one of Wendy's new images with you each month. My digi is the charming "Ridley with a Bouquet", which seemed to be the perfect start to a Valentine.

The base card is red cardstock, with the black DCWV layer being stitched in place. The next layer is also from the DCWV Black & Cream stack, which has been punched with the Martha Stewart Bubble Bath around the page punch set. Ridley is printed on white cardstock, colored with Copics, and matted with red cardstock. The ribbon is from my stash. Add a little heart shaped charm, which says LOVE.

The "Always and Forever" image is from Hampton Arts, and was stamped in Vineyard Berry ink from Close to My Heart, then matted in matching red cardstock, and adhered with dimensionals. Inside the card you can see the white liner, which is also punched with the Bubble Bath punch.
Do you think dh will be my Valentine if I send him this card??

Faux Embossing Valentine

One of today's most versatile trends is "Faux Embossing", or creating the look of an embossed background with layered papers. It is featured in both Papercrafts and Creating Keepsakes magazines right now! This week the HoneyBees Challenge over at BettyBee's Buzz will be Valentines with Faux Embossing!

So, I have created a card that is clean and simple, but packs a visual punch, in striking red and white, accented with the sparkle of Stickles.

This is what my card base looks like up close :)

These are the embellishments for the front... One white heart punched to fit, and the "True Love" and "L" cut from the Celebrate With Flourish Cricut Cartridge. Today is Monday Motivational, and I have given the entire tutorial over at BettyBee's Buzz... I hope you will check it out!

On a personal note... my missing Kitty has returned :) Hurray!!! Rusty got out of the house on Dec. 21st, and just vanished, and tonight, as I was chatting with my Sister, as she wished me Happy Birthday, I heard "Meow, Meow, Meow" and I ran to the door, and there he was on the step.... a little thinner, but no other signs of problems. His twin brother is so happy to see him, too! I can't imagine where he has been, and we've had awful weather, etc. Just so grateful that he's home!!
