Legions of Minions!

At our Friday Try-Day class last week we made this card, and it was so much fun seeing how many different faces and personalities these little fellows had!  I sent one right off to my Grandson T for his 12th birthday.  I hope you will enjoy making them, too!

The sentiment inside was

You're One In A MINION!

Cut yellow cardstock 4.25 x 11 and score at 5.5, creating a top fold.  Use corner rounder on top edges.

Distress all around with dark yellow ink.  I used Close To My Heart Creme Brulee.

Add a black stripe .25 inch wide across the width of the card to create the band for the goggles.

Make the goggles by punching a 1 3/8" circle in Tanzanite Gemstone paper by Co'ordinations.

Then carefully punch a 1.75 inch circle directly over the previous circle, creating a silver ring.  Repeat if your Minion has two eyes  :o)

Punch out the appropriate number of 1.75 inch white circles and .5 inch black circles for eyes.

The mouth is made the same way as the goggles, but a slightly "wonky" circle works best.  Cut a part of the circle, and arrange the mouth as desired.

Using blue paper for jeans, cut two rectangles and two "straps".

The rectangles are 1.5 x 2.5 and 1.25 x 1.5.  The straps are .25 wide and fit to length.

Distress ink with darker blue. 

Add stitching lines and "buttons" with black fine line marker.

You Gotta Have Heart!!



 

WooHoo, it's Monday, and that means it's Monday Motivational over at BettyBee's Buzz!!   Our theme for this week is "Have a Heart" and I am so pleased to bring you a different sort of tutorial.... one that was inspired by Terri Moore, of Life with Terri.  She created a beautiful flower covered heart box, and offered the SVG file on her blog.  My version is featured above, and I will take you step-by-step through how I made it over at the Bee Hive!

I have used Make The Cut, a fantastic operating system that tells my Cricut what to cut; Core'dinations Jewels Cardstock; a pretty piece of rose patterned designer paper;  a Martha border punch; the Cuttlebug with the gorgeous Meadow Lark embossing folder; some bridal trim and pearls;  and Beacon 3-in-1 Glue.   




Here is the box all put together!  And now the REAL FUN begins!!

And here we have a very pretty box, worthy of your very best treasures! (Like the beautiful earrings inside, made by my friend, Judy Ford!!)   There is a really lovely surprise about my project ...

Three New Things ... WOW!

Well, happy Wednesday, and time for a HoneyBee Showcase piece! I've done a candle facelift as part of our first ever Motivational Monday at BettyBee's Buzz! Rosemary gave a great tutorial, and this is my take! I used a darker candle, and it smells SO good! Check out the link to find out how to create one of your own!

Next we have brand new images at Digital Delights by LoubyLoo, and they are so cute for the holiday season! My image is Candy Cane Ginger, and I printed her out double...one in reverse, so I could have ginger bread twins! I colored them with Copics, glittery gel pens, and water color pencils. The paper is Core'dinations and Me & My Big Ideas. The ribbon is Offray and the flowers are Wild Orchid.

Last, but not least, is a color inspired centerpiece for Passionately Artistic. This pumpkin is an artificial one that came from a hobby store, and was easy to cut. The flowers arranged in it are traditional fall bushes with touches of rich, deep red ~ to match the accents of my living room. The new Thanksgiving cartridge for the Cricut has beautiful scrolled sentiments, and "Give Thanks" was just perfect to accent the front of the pumpkin. The leaf was heat embossed in russet, orange and gold. The cat tails are real!

Cuttin' Up Saturday! Happy Birthday

It's Cuttin' Up time again, and we're featuring Happy Birthday phrases cut from our choice of Cricut Cartridges...and since it's Cuttlebug Challenge's birthday, as well as my Grandson's birthday, I've chosen to make a really fun easel card. The phrase is cut from Cricut Cake Basics, and makes a perfect marquee for this Baseball Card.

My papers come from the L'il Man coordinated paper pack from Cosmo Cricket. It has ribbons, chip board, and several different styles of paper.

Happy Birthday, Tyler

Tyler watched a lot of Tampa Bay Rays, and even the Bradenton Marauders, baseball with us this summer, so this makes a great themed card for his 9th birthday.

I'm really fond of the new Polka Dots Cuttlebug folder - it's similar to everyone's favorite Swiss Dots - but the spots are bigger, and with Core'dinations paper, that means more color shows through. Love it!!

Be Inspired #93 Christmas Sketch

Diane Campbell Payne, aka Capadia, created a great sketch for us over at Cuttlebug Challenge for this week's challenge. It was really fun to work with, and here is my take on it ....

Here's the sketch, with suggested measurements....

...and this is my completed card. I used a luscious background paper from DCWV.

for my circle, I cut and embossed the wreath from a Cuttlebug die cut and embossing set. I used Core'dinations paper, which has the two toned feature, and when lightly sanded gives a lovely distressed finish. Adding a few red Stickles berries, and Elmer's gold leaf on the ribbon, dresses the wreath for the holidays.

The window itself is a fun stamp from Heartfelt Creations. The curtains are part of the stamp, and I chose to stamp that part twice, scoring and flaring the top and bottom parts, so the curtains appear to be fluffy. Adding some liquid pearl dots gives a lacy look.

Finishing up with some gems on the red rotated piece, and gold embossed message, gives this card just the right touches.

Cards for my Upcoming Studio Bee Class

Good morning! Many in my local area have been invited to attend classes in my newly rearranged craft room - Studio Bee! And here are two of the first cards that they will be doing on Teach Me Tuesday.
This folded tent card features luscious velvet dogwood blossoms and Core'dinations Gemstone papers. This new paper line is absolutely gorgeous and a dream to work with. The Stamp is from a great Mother's Day set I will be featuring from Sparkle N Sprinkle. Be sure to check out their glitters and embossing powders, too! They are the absolute best!!!

See, I told you those glitters were awesome!!! This card also features the butterfly from the new
GIVE A HOOT cartridge from Provo Craft. The glitter was adhered with Dimensional Glue from Sparkle N Sprinkle, and the glitter border was done with Red Tacky Tape and a brayer...No loose glitter pieces. The tag is from the STORYBOOK cartridge, and the sentiment from Hero Arts. You'll see a couple of MS punches, the Victoria Cuttlebug embossing folder, and some Offray Ribbon to complete the project.
There will be another acrylic surprise for my students....but you'll get to see it, too, so come back tomorrow!

Be Inspired #65

Konnichiwa! Introducing the Cuttlebug Asian Collection from Provo Craft!! This week's Cuttlebug Challenge is to create something featuring white, and those of us fortunate enough to have the new Asian Collection are showcasing one of the new folders that are being officially introduced at CHA!! (There has been a soft opening, and you can purchase them now a few places :-D)

This brings back wonderful memories to me, because we lived in Okinawa for three years, and our oldest daughter, Tori, was born there. :-D

For my card, I chose Core'dinations Whitewash collection paper, and cut it 5 1/2 x 11, then scored it at 4 1/2, and 9, so there is a 2" flap to fold inside. It has a pretty green inside, and when embossed with the BAMBOO FOLDER the bamboo image is sanded to come through in green.

I also trimmed the right edge with the Martha Steward Deep Cut Lattice Scallop punch.

The fan is cut from the PAGODA Cricut cartridge from Provo Craft. I cut it in white, stamped the leaves with an Inkadinkadoo Asian stamp, and scored the fan lines with my SCORE-IT. I then added Martha Stewart white wedding flowers, and a handmade yellow tassle. Inside are three Kanji words also cut from the PAGODA cartridge, and backed with circles and squares cut with the GEORGE cartridge.

Cuttlebug Challenge #55

We have a new sponsor this week at Cuttlebug Challenge, and I have to admit that this was just a bit of a stretch for some of us. I've seen My Favorite Things stamps for quite a while, and am quite a fan of a lot of them, but this one was a challenge for me. It is called On The Pier, and somehow it just seemed to be the wrong time of the year for me. The reason they choose to leave the heads off of their designs, is because they like them to be "any woman"...

Here I chose the Ornamental Iron Cuttlebug Folder to create the Wallpaper on Core'dinations paper. The soft yellow with the lighter yellow worked really well. I added acrylic for the window, and used a white Sakura Souffle' pen to draw in the window panes. It is great, because when it dries, it sort of puffs up, and gives a great, bright white look. The curtains were made from shiny copper ribbon, and attached with glue dots. The sentiment at the bottom was computer generated, and reads "The road to a friend's house is never long." I cut it with a tag Coluzzle, just turning it around to give the decorative end on both ends. The gem leaves are from JoAnn's.
My image is colored with Copics, water color pencil for the boardwalk, and watercolor crayon for the sky. The leaves are all punched with a small punch from my stash.

World Card Challenge

Happy World Card Making Day! I hope you are crafting, blog hopping and having fun!!

This is my family ~ well, my grandkids and their Dad! I used Little Rascals, Funky Fairies, DZ Doodles, and Annie Lang digital images, inserted to a Word document and sized to proper proportion. The Haunted House is a Cuttlebug Folder embossed onto Core'dination Black Magic paper, which I "debossed" so I could cut out the shape and sand the raised shutters, windows, and other accents. The grass shapes were cut pieces of green paper, which I embossed with the Spider Web Cuttlebug folder.

The popped-up kids were all colored with Copic markers, and accented with some bling. The moon is a sticky paper embellishment with added MS gold glitter.

The funny sentiment inside says "DAD, do you ALWAYS have to go Trick or Treating with us??"

Be Inspsired # 47 Cuttlebug Challenge Invitation

It's the kickoff to the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog's Birthday Party Palooza!!

Nearly every day of September there will be a new post showing something exciting about a birthday party. Each of us (you, too!!) chooses our favorite theme for a birthday party, and go from there!!

Today's CHALLENGE is to create your INVITATION to your party!!

My theme is LOLLIPOPS and this is the invitation that I designed.

For my lollipops I used the Accent Essentials cartridge for my Cricut, with Design Studio, and rounded an oval swirl to create the right shape. I also used this same cartridge for the background circles. I used the New Arrival cartridge for the You're Invited bubble, as well as the welded words at the bottom. I chose the D'vine Swirls cuttlebug folder for embossing the yellow Core'dinations paper for the background.

Cuttlebug Challenge #43 Be Inspired!

It's August, and a new month of great challenges has begun at the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog! Today we are featuring digi stamps by Mlamarre Designs. I love digi stamps. They are so versatile, since they are infinitely adjustable and flippable!


In this challenge I made a gift bag with the featured digi stamp, and followed the inspiration of the designer paper to create the butterfly with Cuttlebug's Flower Set dies and Core'dinations paper. The scallop circle behind the image is from Cricut's Accent Essential's cartridge, and then it was embossed with Love Language to put those sweet little hearts on it. Tie on a couple of ribbons and a touch of Martha Stewart purple glitter for BLING and it's a wrap!
