Candy Treats for Christmas

I was asked to present a class for Relief Society at Church, and I made up a bunch of little candy carriers that could be given as little gifts. I let the leader decide which one to present as the project for the night and she chose Hershey the Snowman! I promised the ladies that I would post the directions here, so they will follow. I hope you are able to make lots of them for your holiday enjoyment. By the way, the same dimensions work for Santa's belt. Many thanks to all of my blog buddies for the inspiration and outright scraplifting of some of these projects, especially SusieB and her friend Penny. Thanks a million!

Here are the directions for making Hershey the Snowman: * Remember I was teaching this to 45 women at a time, so I was preparing large numbers of pieces of supplies. At home yours might be simpler.
Supply Pieces*
1 6x6 square of white cardstock
1 6x2 black for hat base
1 3 x ½ for hat brim Do NOT Score
1” white circle for eyes – cut off bottom 1/3, then cut in half. Ink to create eyelids.
1 ½ “ orange for nose. Freehand cut carrot shape.
1 x 2” for mouth
Snowflake for hat decoration.
12” ribbon for scarf. Cut in half.
Preparation
Score: White square and Black 6 x 2 at 1 ½”, 1 ¾”, 4 ¼” and 4 1/2”
With a paper punch make six black dots for mouth (use 1 x 2 black piece)
Cut out carrot shaped nose from orange strip of paper
Cut ribbon into two 6 inch pieces
Assembly
Glue black hat base to white “head”. Add hat brim using thin dimensional foam dots.
Glue two blue edged “eye lids” in place, and add two wiggle eyes.
Glue orange carrot nose. It is okay to let the tip hang over the edge.
Starting in the center, add the six black dots creating the snowman’s mouth.
Putting glue ONLY on the outside edges – NOT on the face section – glue one six inch section of ribbon to the lower edge of the white square. Loop the second piece of ribbon through the front section, notching the lower edge, and glue together to secure.
Add a snowflake to the hat, tucking one edge into the hat brim.
Wrap your snowman around a Hershey Bar and glue into place! You can add a piece of tape to hold until it dries, if you wish,
Carefully add glue to the carrot nose, and go to the glitter bowl to add orange glitter.
Then add glue to the snowflake, hat, etc. and go to the glitter bowl to add silver glitter.
Please feel free to post any questions you might have, or send me an email, and I'll try to help you any way I can. Have fun!!!
