Be Inspired #42 National Friendship Day

Welcome to Cuttlebug Challenge - Be Inspired Wednesday! We are celebrating National Friendship Week with a Gatefold card challenge.

I'm also tickled to be using our new sponsor's Core'dination's paper in this monochormatic card. I think I'll show you all about it on my next video :-)

For this gatefold card, I used my Scor-It, and double scored my front so I could have an additional panel, which I embossed with a piece of a Swiss Dots folder. I have an extra folder, which I cut in half, and then cut one of those halves in half again...giving me quarter pieces, that work so well in being able to emboss nice vertical matching strips.

My new folder for this card is the Moroccan Folder, and it has a wonderful repeating pattern, so if you are working on a project that requires longer pieces, consider this folder, as it will match up, and you can continue to emboss. Check out Shantaie's project on Cuttlebug Challenge from Saturday. It's a great example.

Hope you will join the Cuttlebug Challenge...make a gatefold card for a friend. The design team has a bunch of ideas for you on the Blog...and this is the last week to enter the contest to win all of the new Cuttlebug Folders...just complete the four weeks challenges (with ANY folders you might have) and you could win!!! We want to see at least 100 participants, and 1500 members by the end of the month...could you invite a friend? Thanks!

I'm packing to head off to CHA tomorrow.....and I have a big surprise to share .... nope you'll have to wait just a little bit .....

Happy crafting ~

PS... Thanks to my nephew, Bret, for my new signature! .....SO CUTE!!! Watch for his ad coming soon, so you can have one, too!!

Hang In There! I'm coming ....

This little fellow is a digi stamp from the talented hands of Dustin Pike. I have colored him with the Copics and Bic markers show below, and even flocked the cattail! The background paper had the leaf pattern on it, and to give dimension, I used markers and scraps, and colored more leaves, adding shading, and then cut them out. Using foam dots, I placed them on the card to give interest and texture. I also used the markers to lightly color in a few of the leaves in the background.

The "Hang In There" sentiment comes from a retired SU! set of stamps that my daughter found for me at a yard sale! SCORE!!!

Just three more days to CHA, and I'm already getting some exciting reports from some gals that have already been there to a couple of the parties! FUN things are going on!!!

I got a 4 GB card for my camera this week, so I shouldn't run out of memory!! Let me know what you want me to take photos of for you! Please leave me comments!!!

Be sure to check out the Cuttlebug Challenge today for two fun tutorials using the Moroccan folder! And tomorrow is Be Inspired Wednesday - It is National Friendship Week....make a card for your friend this week!

Countdown to CHA ~ and THANKS!

I'm going to Orlando to CHA this weekend, and am going to try to post something new every day for you!

Thanks, too, to all 100 of you who have written for the pattern for the Business Card Holder!! WOW! There are a few whom I haven't gotten to yet....please be patient, I'll get them to you really soon.

Here is a fun House Mouse summertime image done with the noted Copics. The background was embossed with iny Bubbles Cuttlebug and a simple bow from my stash. The sentiment is from StudioG's June stamps they introduced last year. I've added a touch of whimsey with dragonflies from the Doodlecharms cartridge and my Cricut. The wings are vellum, touched with Stickles. The body is painted with Shimmering watercolors, as is the heart on the sentiment.

Have a great day, and

Happy crafting ~

Fab Friday TV! Business Card Tutorial

Thanks for coming by to check out my second installment of Fab Friday TV from Studio Bee! Our CuttlebugChallenge this week was to make anything BUT a card, so I designed this Business Card Holder...everyone has business cards of their own, or ones that others give us...well, now you can make designer wallets to hold them! The vinyl over cardstock makes them very sturdy, and very stylish! My Countdown to CHA Cuttlebug Folder this week is the beautiful and elegant VICTORIA FOLDER , and I love it!

Materials used:

Cardstock: Michaels, Vinyl: WallPops, Scor-It

Flowers: Prima, Cuttlebug, Folders: Provo Craft

Adhesive: Tacky Tape, Walmart

Ribbon, Buttons, Brad, Masking Tape: from my stash

If you would like to have the pattern for the business card holder, please leave me a comment with your email address, or email me at BettyBeeDesigns@hotmail.com. Please put Businss Card Holder Pattern in the subject line. I will be happy to send you the file. I am currently working on a .cut file for the Cricut, and will post when I have it ready.

I hope you are participating in the four week contest at CuttlebugChallenge! You could win BIG!....and you know that I want one of my readers to get those folders!! Just complete the four challenges in the month of July, and link your creation to Mr. Linky. Make sure you're a follower of our blogs, and you're in!

I hope you've enjoyed Fab Friday TV, and I'll be doing it again in a couple of weeks.

Be Inspired - Emboss Vinyl

Good morning! Today's Cuttlebug Challenge is to create something other than a card! I had a lot of fun with this, and decided to get out my pencil and paper and draw up a pattern for something brand new... and a new technique, too. Here is my new Vinyl Business Card Holder. It is very sturdy with the vinyl covered cardstock, so that it takes a pretty good beating in my purse or briefcase. And I love the variety of colors and designs that are available. Today's introduction of the Cuttlebug embossing folders is the beautiful Victoria Folder...which I chose to do in pink Wall Pops Vinyl. Isn't it cute? The black is like Patent Leather, with a designer red band, and the brown is a surprise material.... This project will be the feature on my Fab Friday TV Video on Cuttlebug Challenge, so be sure to check it out! You can get the pattern then :-)

Don't forget that CuttlebugChallenge has an awesome contest going on, and you could win great prizes, including ALL of the new cuttlebug folders....so check out the fantastic projects the other designers have created, and be inspired!!
And I'll see you at CHA!!
Happy Crafting!!!

Dragons, Herringbone and Birthdays!

Two grandsons have birthdays this coming week, and it has been totally fun to use two of Dustin Pike's Dragons to create cards just for them. Bryan will be 11, and he is the daredevil athlete. Dylan will be seven, and is having a big pirate party, complete with pirate booty for all. I love the images that Dustin draws, and Copic markers are perfect for these. He even drew the background, boxes, barrels, and cannon balls. Be sure to check out his website on Wednesdays for his weekly Freebies!
Thanks, also, to my friend, Rosemary, for the surprise RAK of the awesome Yasumoto shimmering watercolors!! (Note the golden shimmer to the dragon's chest, and to the skateboard...oh, so easy and fantastic results!!)
Again, I LOVE the new HERRINGBONE Cuttlebug embossing folder! It makes a terrifically textured background, and is oh, so great to work with....love it, love it, love it!
Check out Michelle's Cuttlebug Challenge Fab Friday TV spot over at Cuttlebug Challenge today... another home run!!
Happy Crafting, and I'll be back soon!

Get Well - Wild Card Cartridge

This bandaid cut is sure to help Rosemary feel better very soon! It is from the Wild Card Cricut Cartridge, and I inked pink paper with light brown, then the edges in white to give it an authentic look. There is even white baby wipe behind it for the right texture. The message inside says "Being in the hospital might be a bummer, but look on the bright side; You get breakfast in bed!" I am very grateful that Roe is doing well after a very scary surgery, and we can joke about it now.
The white paper is a MS wedding invitation blank trimmed with Fiskars scissors, and MS border punch. The background is embossed with Cuttlebug Swiss Dots, and the "get well soon" is a Cuttlebug 2x2 embossing folder.
I hope this inspires you when you want to send a Get Well message.

Happy Crafting!
Hugs,
BettyBee

The New Herringbone Folder

As we count down toward the official launch of the new Cuttlebug Folders, it has been such fun to see how these new folders work and feel, and I must say, that this Herringbone is WAAAYYYY up there on my list of favorites! The texture, feel and versatility of this one is awesome. I hope you can see in the close ups how detailed it is. Be sure to check out the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog and see what the other Designers have done this week ~ AWESOME!!!

This week's challenge is a super sketch challenge (provided by our own wonderful Maggie LaMarre!) AND there are two prizes involved! Our sponsor this week is 2 Red Bananas.
They are offering a great prize, as well as the grand prize this month....do all four challenges, and you could win all of the new embossing folders!!! Come on now....I want it to be YOU!!!!

OK, I'm off to the studio to create a couple of birthday cards, get well cards, and I've created a brand new design, AND TECHNIQUE, to be sharing with the Victoria folder for next week, and my new video coming up on the 24th! (You know I'm such a tease!)
Happy Crafting!

Baptism card - New Stamps!

Today I got these exciting new stamps from Papertrey Ink's new release of Heavenly Medly! I think they are just awesome, and they came at exactly the right time! We are invited to a baptism very early tomorrow morning in the Gulf of Mexico!

These new stamps have lots of very special pieces that can be arranged to suit a variety of occasions and messages, and they are especially appealing with phrases like "I Am A Child of God", "I Believe in Christ" and "We'll Bring the World His Truth". Check them out!
Have a great Saturday, and I'll be buzzing by again very soon!

Another New Cuttlebug Folder!!!

It's Fab Friday on Cuttlebug Challenge***, and I am honored to present a tutorial video showing my version of a shadowbox card, featuring the soon-to-be-released Owl Flourish Cuttlebug Folder!!

This is the first video in Studio Bee, and it worked pretty well, but I do have to apologize in advance, because at the end, I didn't realize where I needed to keep the card so it would stay on camera.....I will do better next time!

Without further ado..... The Owl Flourish Shadow Box Card Video.....

Thanks for watching,

Happy Crafting, and I'll see you soon!

BettyBee

***Edited note: If you have noticed that the video is not on CBC, it is due to an agreement with one of our generous sponsors, and I inadvertently used another product in the video. Therefore we had to remove it from the site. Please feel free to enjoy it here, and look for further videos in the future. Thanks :)

Introducing another Cuttlebug Embossing Folder!

It's Wednesday, and that means Cuttlebug Challenge day.... and today's challenge included three colors....orange, mint green, and pea green ...AND something from nature, as well as the exciting launch of another of Provo Craft's brand new Cuttlebug Embossing Folders being showcased over at Cuttlebug Challenge!
Here is my first entry for this week's challenge...

I embossed clear acrylic, turned it over and colored the impressions with Copic markers, leaving feathery markings on the owl. I embossed the green cardstock with Cuttlebug's Spots and Dots Folder, folding it over the top, and tying it with natural cording. The feathers are real, purchased from Walmart. I typed my own original quote on my computer, layering it with cardstock, and adhering it to the acrylic under the feathers on the front, so the glue dot is hidden. This was a very simple card to create. I hope you will do one, too!
Check in on Friday for another take on this same folder, as I present a tutorial video!
Until then.....
Happy Crafting!!

Happy Birthday, Porter

It's hard to believe that our little grandson is one already! This is the card that I made for him, as his birthday theme was puppies - one of his favorite words. His Mommy made the cutest Pup-cakes for his party, as well as a cake that looked like a doggie just for him. She did a fabulous job!
PS. I did go back after I posted this and round the corners on the card, as I felt it gave it a more finished look. I hope you agree! By the way, the doggie on this card is a wooden cut out from Michaels, and I just embellished it, added the white dots on the eyes, and used a very strong glue dot to adhere it to the card. Easy peasy!!
They are getting ready to move clear across the country from us, and I just don't know how I'll stand it......I sure will miss this little fellow.

We're off to help them pack this weekend.

Wishing you a wonderful, safe Fourth of July.

I'll be back in a couple of days with a new Cuttlebug Folder reveal!

Happy Crafting

Cuttlebug Challenge and Stars Folder Reveal!!

What an exciting privilege it is to be asked by Provo Craft to introduce the brand new Cuttlebug Folders before they are presented at CHA this summer!!! This week the Design Team is showcasing the Stars Folder....and what is better than a Happy Birthday card for the USA?!!! This folder has very deep impressions, and is a nice full A2 size. I used an Elmer's Gold Paint pen to accent a few of the raised stars, and then used star sequins to really make them POP!

Be sure to check out the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog to see what the other Designers have done. We are so pleased to introduce our new International Design Team this week, too! Lots of wonderful things are happening at CBC......don't miss a week!
***************

And I promised a couple more photos of our trip....in keeping with our patriotic theme, here is the Civil War Cemetery in Winchester, VA where my hubby's GG?Grandfather, Soloman Green Boone, is buried. He was part of the NC infantry, and died here at the Battle of Cedar Creek. It is so satisfying to do Family History, and learn of our roots. This man was a real hero, and it was Flag Day when we were there this time. The flags were quite impressive...

I also visited a friend who has some other Civil War memorabilia, but most importantly, stories of his family that he shared with all of us. These are hat cords of Union Soldiers that denoted the branch of service, such as Medical, Artillery, etc. These were never issued, as they are still tied with little strings.
His family stories included being drafted into the Confederate Army and serving with Stonewall Jackson.
My family history goes back to the 1700's in Virginia, and I am very grateful to know a lot about it. I hope you are interested in finding out about your family. There are wonderful websites like NewFamilySearch.org that will help you.
More pictures another time.
God Bless America! Happy 233rd Birthday, USA!!
Have a wonderful week, wherever you are!
Happy Crafting!!!
